In early 1950, NWEC moved its headquarters from Montpelier to Bryan. The newly constructed building enabled the co-op to better serve the members from a more central location as the service territory was continuing to expand. Located at the northwest corner of what is now Townline Road and High Street, the facility housed the office, garage and warehouse all under one roof. The building was sold in 1980 and was occupied by Custom Cleaners for many years. In 2021, the building was demolished and a Dollar General store now stands in its spot.
By the late 70s, the co-op was again outgrowing its facilities. Vehicles were becoming larger and more materials were needed for the construction and maintenance of the still-growing system. The new building and warehouse facility, located at the corner of County Road D and State Route 576, opened in July of 1980 and continues to be used today. Over the past 46 years, the building has undergone some remodeling and more is coming soon as the need for more office spaces and electrical upgrades for the latest technology advancements are needed to better serve our members.
