The North Western Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees is seeking cooperative member-owners interested in completing the final two years of Andrew Farnham’s unexpired term representing District 1, comprised of Florence, Northwest and St. Joseph townships in Williams County.
The board accepted Mr. Farnham’s resignation at its April 28 meeting. Mr. Farnham was re-elected in April 2021 to a three-year term that expires in April 2024. In accordance with the cooperative’s Code of Regulations, your Board of Trustees is entrusted with the responsibility of filling the District 1 seat. The appointment requires the affirmative vote of a majority of the remaining Board members for the unexpired portion of the term and until a successor shall have been elected and shall have qualified.
Per Article IV, Section 3 of the Cooperative’s Code of Regulations, the qualifications for serving as a North Western Electric Cooperative Trustee are:
No person shall be eligible to become or remain a member of the Board who:
a:) is not a member; or is a member whose permanent residence is not located in the particular district within the service area of the Cooperative which such member is nominated or elected to represent;
b:) is significantly involved by employment, contract, or financial interest in a competing enterprise or a business selling electric power and energy or supplies to the Cooperative or its members;
c:) is a Close Relative of a trustee or employee of the Cooperative or a subsidiary of the Cooperative;
The term “Close Relative” means an individual who:
1.) through blood, law, or marriage, is a spouse, child, stepchild, father, stepfather, mother, stepmother, brother, stepbrother, half-brother, sister, stepsister, half-sister, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law; or
2.) resides in the same residence.
d:) within the past ten years has been convicted of a felony offense or a misdemeanor offense involving dishonesty;
e:) during the three years immediately before becoming a trustee was an employee of the Cooperative or a subsidiary of the Cooperative.
