Save money and precious energy with the new generation of electric water heaters, manufactured by Freedom and Marathon. The Freedom water heaters feature a glass-lined steel tank with a lifetime warranty. The Marathon water heaters feature a polybutylene tank with a lifetime warranty.

As of January 1, 2009, the North Western Electric water heater program is as follows:

North Western Electric members can receive a FREE 50-gallon electric water heater if they:

Build a new home
Replace an existing propane, natural gas, or oil water heater

If a member desires a larger electric water heater, the member will pay 1/3 of the cost of the larger water heater.

North Western Electric members can receive a discounted price for an electric water heater if they:

Replace an existing electric water heater, not under a lifetime warranty, that leaks and cannot be repaired
Replace a small electric water heater, not under a lifetime warranty, that does not provide enough hot water

The member price will be 1/3 of the cost of the replacement water heater. If the member is replacing an electric water heater under a lifetime warranty, the member will pay full price of the water heater. A load management radio control switch is required to be installed to the water heater.

North Western Electric offers a professional electric water heater installation service to its members. Installation is limited to the replacement of existing water heater where no extensive wiring, plumbing or carpentry work is involved, and where it is not directly connected to other mechanical components (such as geothermal units or water softeners). North Western Electric reserves the right to refuse installation based on these criteria.

Member prices are:

Replacing existing electric - $45.00 an hour
Replacing existing gas with electric - $45.00 an hour plus the cost of wire and breaker
Removal of old water heater - $75.00

North Western Electric provides FREE replacement parts and a repair service of electric water heaters at a discounted price to its members:

Parts for the repair of electric water heaters will be provided FREE of charge. Members wanting to repair the water heater themselves can obtain parts from the Cooperative office.
A service charge of $45 will be applied to calls for repair of electric water heaters by Cooperative personnel. This service does not include the installation of a new water heater. Service will be available during normal business hours.
Service calls for load management switch repairs, water heater inspections, or other non-water heater marketing programs will not be assessed a charge.
