It's perfect for new or existing homes that utilize electric baseboards, and electric furnace, radiant ceiling cable heat, or a heat pump as their primary electric heating source. And because you'll benefit from the reduced electric rate, your ETS unit will pay for itself in just a few short years!
The savings are possible because in exchange for your rate discount, North Western Electric installs a free radio-controlled load management switch on your home's heating system. This switch is activated when the Ohio electric cooperatives experience a high demand for electricity. Using the switch helps postpone reaching new peak levels because whenever a new peak is reached, everybody's rates can go up. Through load management programs like ETS and electric water heaters, cooperative customers throughout the state have saved an estimated $60 million in reduced demand costs over the past 20 years.
With an ETS unit, the home's primary heat source is temporarily interrupted during peak demand periods. The ETS unit, which is located in the area of the house where you spend the majority of your time, supplies the heat for your home during the peak period.
Rate Discount
During November through April, customers with ETS receive a 1 1/4¢ per KWH discount plus a $6.50 service charge discount. The maximum discount for each season is $450.
ETS unit is free
North Western Electric also provides the ETS unit free of charge. You pay only a guaranteed installation charge of $425. A special no-interest payment plan is available at $25 per month for 17 months which makes ETS even more affordable.
