North Western Electric offers rebates and low-interest loans for the installation of a geothermal system.
$600 Rebate
To qualify for a rebate the geothermal unit must provide 100 percent of the heat, without the use of auxiliary electric resistance heating, when the outside air temperature is 5 degrees F and the inside temperature is 70 degrees F. Load calculations must be based on industry-accepted standards for this area.
Loans
A low interest loan is available directly from North Western Electric. The program features:
- 6 percent annual interest rate
- 5-year loan term
- Loan amount is limited to 80 percent of the installed cost after any rebates
- A maximum of $10,000 may be borrowed

Geothermal Contractors
One or more employees from each participating contractor are certified by the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) for installation and repair of heat pumps.
* One or more employees are certified by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) as an accredited installer.
Systems not rated by the Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI) must be approved before installation begins.
To qualify for rebate/loan, all systems must be approved by NWEC before installation begins. A post-installation inspection is required.
