Your Community - Scholarships
North Western Electric Cooperative is proud to offer two different scholarship programs to high school seniors, the Scholarship for Children of Members and the Touchstone Energy Achievement Award. The description and criteria for each scholarship program is as follows:
Scholarship for Children of Consumers (Members)
Two (2) first place cash awards of $1,500 each and two (2) second place cash awards of $750 each shall be given to a graduating senior boy and girl who have been accepted and can show evidence of attending an accredited college or *proper vocational/technical school of the student's choice. First place winners will compete in the statewide contest for additional scholarship funds.
The parents and/or guardians of the individuals must be members of and receive service from the Cooperative at the time of judging. All applicants must have a current career average of 3.5 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale or better to be eligible. Any applicant, at the time the awards are made, has received a full scholarship (tuition, room, board and books) to the school of his/her choice is not eligible for this scholarship. Members of the immediate families of trustees and employees of the Cooperative are not eligible to participate in the competition.
Touchstone Energy Achievement Award
One (1) cash award of $1,000 shall be given to a graduating senior who has excelled despite personal challenges. The applicant shall have been accepted and can show evidence of attending an accredited college or *proper vocational/technical school of the student's choice.
The parents and/or guardians of the individuals must be members of and receive service from the Cooperative at the time of judging. All applicants must have a current career average of 2.75 G.P.A. on a 4.0 scale or better to be eligible. Any applicant, at the time the award is made, has received a full scholarship (tuition, room, board and books) to the school of his/her choice is not eligible for this scholarship.
Applications and Instructions
Applications for selection in 2013 will be available beginning in December 2012 and will be due in February 2013.
